When 57 year-old Gavin Smith went missing two years ago, police were initially stumped. They had no idea what happened to the Hollywood studio executive, who was also a married father of three.
Once they began their investigation, police quickly learned that Smith was no ordinary family man. They found that he was a drug addict who regularly cheated on his wife, and in the end it was his unfaithful nature that got him killed.
According to Daily Mail, Smith was last seen leaving a female friend’s home in May of 2012. His case quickly went cold, until police found his body in October of 2014. Police then reopened the case, and found that Smith had been having an affair with Chandrika Creech, a woman he met in rehab in 2009.
Chandrika’s husband John Creech, 42, is a convicted drug dealer who has been serving an eight year sentence for sale of a controlled substance since September of 2012. He is also apparently an incredibly jealous husband, because police say he murdered Smith once he learned about the affair. He was arraigned for felony murder on Monday, and faces 25 years to live in prison.
The whole case has been incredibly hard on Smith’s wife Lisa and their three sons, who all discovered that he had been having affairs with three women at the time of his death. Lisa says she believes her husband was going through a mid-life crisis just before he died.
“In hindsight, all the signs were there. He was dressing like a 20-year-old to go to drug rehab meetings and working out like mad,” she said.
