A drone paid a visit to one of the world’s biggest pork producers. What you will see in this video may just have you rethinking your Sunday breakfast.
Drones can get into places we may not be able to see otherwise. The drone’s owner, filmmaker Mark Devries, pretty much knew what kind of footage he would get..but still…EW.
As the drone ascends, it comes across a lake. A little muddy, but still, nature sure is beautiful. Wait. That’s not a lake?
What is it?
It’s an open sewage lagoon filled with pig feces and urine.
And if you haven’t thrown up already, it’s the size of four football fields. (cue barf)
Just past the ‘lake’ are buildings in which thousands of pigs live, often packed in so tightly they can’t even turn around. For months at a time. When the pigs relieve themselves, it falls through slats in the floor and gets flushed out into the ‘lake.’
ew. ew. EWWWWWWWW.
But wait. The lake must get full, right? So, the farm employees must clean it out.
They spray pig waste over the fields, and over the neighbors homes.
Are you serious? This has me outraged on so many levels. First, that is no way to treat an animal. Secondly, how dare this farm spray disgusting contaminants over neighboring homes? I find this absolutely despicable that this company finds this an appropriate practice. Is this even legal?
I think I will just stick to my turkey bacon and call it good.
