A Florida teenager was caught posing as an OBGYN after pretending to be a doctor at a hospital for a month.
The boy acted as a doctor at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for weeks by wearing a white coat with the hospital logo on it.
The teen was caught when he was seen wearing a stethoscope around his neck and a mask on his face. At the time, he was in an exam room with a patient.
“He presented himself with a patient of our practice and introduced himself as Dr. Robinson,” said Dr. Sebastian Kent, the OBGYN who was conducting an exam as the boy watched when he was caught.
“The first thing I thought was, ‘I am getting, I am really getting old because these young doctors look younger every year,” Dr. Kent added.
Realizing the boy was a fraud, he called security. The officers admitted they had seen the boy around the hospital for weeks, and assumed he was just another doctor.
“I saw him outside our office building with policemen surrounding him. I believe they had him in handcuffs. There was quite a commotion,” Dr. Kent said, according to Fox Now.
The Florida hospital released the following statement about the incident:
“The individual never had contact with any hospital patients and did not gain access to any patient care areas of the hospital at any time. The hospital immediately notified local authorities, who took the individual into custody, and we are cooperating with their ongoing investigation.”
The boy’s mother rushed to the scene after he was caught, saying her son is ill and has not been taking his medication.
