Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has pointed out that the Islamic State is experiencing somewhat of an identity crisis. Some call them IS, while others say ISIS and ISIL. Abbott has coined yet another name for the terrorist organization: DAIISH.
The acronym references a term which was first used by supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, so ISIS militants hate it. Pronounced “Daesh,” it sounds like the Arabic word for “crush,” which is what Westerners aim to do to Islamic terrorists.
ISIS reportedly hates the term DAIISH so much that they have vowed to “cut out the tongues” of those who repeat it. Secretary of State John Kerry and other U.S. leaders have even taken Abbott’s lead lately by starting to use the term. Will you be next?
