The View continues on their streak as the sloppiest show on daytime TV as network executives have announced they are reversing their decision to fire Rosie Perez.
After news of Perez’s firing leaked earlier this month, executives became worried that they would end up dealing with an “Ann Curry” situation. Curry’s firing at the Today show turned out to be a PR disaster for NBC, with her tearful farewell going viral and earning her the sympathy of America. The entire incident caused Today’s ratings to tank, and ABC is desperately trying to avoid this with The View.
A few weeks ago, the network launched a plan to axe Perez, who has been on leave for a month rehearsing a play in New York. Unfortunately for ABC, the news broke before they got a chance to tell Perez’s cohosts, and Rosie O’Donnell was not happy about it.
O’Donnell flew into a frenzy and confronted the petrified executives, and after words the “network backpedaled on it’s plan.”
Pathetically enough, ABC is continuing to deny that they ever planned to fire Perez. The network has released the following statement:
“These unnamed sources are wrong. As was always the plan, the amazingly talented Rosie Perez took time off to rehearse for her Broadway play. We’re eagerly looking forward to having her back on February 3rd. Any speculation to the contrary is simply untrue.”
Yeah…right. I can’t wait to see the awkward moment where Perez is back on ABC, cue the fireworks!
