Rosie O’Donnell is leaving ‘The View’ and splitting up with her wife, Michelle Rounds.
According to Page Six, O’Donnell and her wife have been split for months now; O’Donnell reportedly said she is leaving The View to focus on raising her five children.
Page Six exclusively reported:
O’Donnell, 52, married her second wife Rounds in private in June 2012. In 2013, they adopted a baby girl, Dakota. She has four other older kids..Rosie’s rep, Cindi Berger, confirmed the marital split, as well O’Donnell’s departure from “The View,” in a statement Friday night: “I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November. Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave ‘The View.’ Next week will be her last.”
Contradictory to O’Donnell’s stated reason for leaving the ABC show, rumors have been flying for months that she was going to resign due to behind-the-scenes drama. Some of that drama was reportedly flared due to O’Donnell’s extreme left-wing views.
ABC released a statement that said, “Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show. When she told us she wanted to exit ‘The View,’ we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We’re delighted she’s still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on ‘The Fosters,’ and we know she’ll return to ‘The View’ often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family.”
Lately, Rosie had been using The View as a platform for her ridiculous beliefs which she will defend to the death if her co-hosts dare to cross her. For example, in recent weeks, Rosie has said on the show that we shouldn’t fight back against ISIS in the Middle East, and that anyone who criticizes Obama is motivated by bigotry and racism.
Rosie made headlines last month for saying that black men have become an “endangered species” since so many have been killed by police. Anyone else’s career would have been ruined for calling black men a “species,” but Rosie has somehow managed to hang on: until now.
