Noted photographer Seph Lawless was exploring a Louisiana swamp when he made a discovery that was downright creepy.
Lawless stumbled upon a cemetery that had been abandoned for 30 years.
The cemetery was abandoned in 1980 after a grave digger committed a brutal murder, and buried the body there.
Since it was abandoned, nature has slowly swallowed up the cemetery and taken it over.
A structure once stood in the area pictured below. It collapsed long ago, leaving a series of twisted vines in it’s place.
Upon further inspection, it became clear that this was no normal cemetery. Instead, it was a pet ceremony, where devoted owners could bury the pets that brought so much joy to their lives.
This owner placed some of their dog’s favorite kibble on her grave, where it lay untouched for 30 years.
Lawless has decided to include the photos in a book entitled Pet Cemetery…In Loving Memory. All proceeds from the book’s sales will be donated to the humane society.
