Last week, Hillary Clinton found herself in hot water when it was revealed that she used a personal email account instead of an official government-issued one during her time as Secretary of State. Over the weekend, Obama claimed that he found out about the personal email from the news “when everyone else did,” but this of course turned out to be a ridiculous lie.
Now, the White House is saying that when Obama said he found out about the emails “the same time as everybody else learned it through news reports,” he meant that it was the first time that he learned that it was the only email she used. Right…
“The president, as I think many people expected, did over the course of his first several years in office trade emails with his secretary of state,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters. “I would not describe the number of emails as large, but they did have the occasion to email each other.”
“The point that the president was making is not that he didn’t know Secretary Clinton’s email address, he did,” Earnest added, according to Daily Mail. “But he was not aware of the details of how that email address and that server had been set up or how Secretary Clinton and her team were planning to comply with the Federal Records Act.”
Obama clearly is trying to distance himself from both Hillary Clinton and his own lies, but if anyone actually believes he wasn’t aware of Hillary’s private email account, they’re a fool.
