Late Tuesday night, the Washington Post released an explosive report, claiming that Freddie Gray likely severed his own spine.
The outlet talked to a prisoner sharing police transit with Gray, who “told investigators that he could hear Gray ‘banging against the walls’ of the vehicle and believed that he ‘was intentionally trying to injure himself,’ according to a police document.”
The report continued, “The document, written by a Baltimore police investigator, offers the first glimpse of what might have happened inside the van. It is not clear whether any additional evidence backs up the prisoner’s version, which is just one piece of a much larger probe.”
Once the vehicle arrived at the police station, Gray was found unconscious.
After the Baltimore police are finished investigating, which they claim will be on Friday, the Baltimore state’s attorney’s office will decide whether to seek an indictment. At this time six police officers are suspended in connection with Gray’s death.
If, as the Post reports, Gray caused his own death, it could change everything. It is unclear, at this time, how the race rioters will react to the news.
