A 24 year-old man was walking out of a Kroger grocery store in Little Rock, Arkansas when he saw seven punks surrounding an elderly man and beating him to the ground.
The young man, identified only as Gene, knew immediately that he had to take action.
“I saw seven people against one guy and I did not like those odds,” Gene recounted. A concealed carrier, he whipped out his gun and headed towards the thugs. Gene admitted he was nervous, as he had never used his gun in public before.
He shouted at the punks to leave the man alone, but they responded ”This isn’t your fight, you need to walk away, you need to put the gun down.” Gene, however, wasn’t going anywhere.
By the time the police arrived minutes later, the thugs had scattered all over the place. Though the elderly man did not choose to press charges against the punks, one of whom was his own nephew, Gene said he has no regrets about what he did.
“When you see a crime happening and you see someone getting injured, if you have the ability to stop it, you should do so,” Gene said.
“The guy did the right thing,” a witness added.
