Ticks are one of the most common insects in heavily-wooded areas, and they are known for carrying the debilitating illness called Lyme’s disease. However, it has been discovered that ticks are also carrying a new deadly disease that is far worse than Lyme’s…
Doctors in the Northeast and Great Lakes regions have revealed that ticks are carriers of the Powassan virus, a deadly disease that attacks the central nervous system.
Symptoms of this virus will appear within hours of getting bitten by a tick. The brain will quickly start to swell, which could quickly prove to be fatal. 50 people have already been infected this year, and 10 of them have died.
“You can get seizures, fever, sore neck,” warns Dr. Daniel Cameron. “It comes on so suddenly.”
In order to dodge ticks, its best to avoid heavily wooden areas if possible. When you are in wooded areas, be sure to wear long pants and socks so that most of your lower body is covered. Once you go inside, check your whole body for ticks. If the tick is removed early enough, it may just save your life.
Oh, and use LOTS of bug spray!
