The Duggar family is known for their TLC reality show, 19 Kids and Counting, which spends much of it’s time exhibiting the family’s strong Christian values.
Unfortunately for the Duggars, however, they have now been caught up in a sex scandal involving their oldest son, Josh.
A newly surfaced report from 2005 shows that family patriarch Jim Bob Duggar turned his son Josh in to Arkansas State Police after “he caught him leaving a young girl’s bedroom and learned something inappropriate happened.” According to Daily Mail, the charge being pursued at the time was fourth degree sexual assault.
It appears that Josh Duggar got very lucky, as the trooper who took the report never pursued the case. Later on, this trooper himself was arrested and “convicted on child pornography charges.” He has been sentenced to 56 years in prison.
In the wake of his arrest, an anonymous caller phoned the Child Abuse Hotline, leading to Crimes Against Children Division and Springdale Police Department becoming involved in the Duggar case. By then, however, the statute of limitations had already expired.
“A technicality prevented any further action,” a source told the press. “That’s been the biggest regret in all of this.”
“I saw and read the report and it clearly stated that Jim Bob brought his son Josh into the Arkansas State Police and spoke to a state trooper about Josh’s involvement in alleged inappropriate touching with a minor,” said another anonymous source.
Josh Duggar, 27, is currently married to his wife Anna. They have three children, with another one on the way. TLC and the Duggar family have yet to comment on this case.
