This week, Duck Dynasty fans have been on edge as they anxiously awaited A&E’s decision as to whether the reality show will come back for season 8. Now, the show has finally learned it’s fate.
Comments on the hit show’s Facebook page have revealed that the show will indeed be back for a new season. The premiere date, however, has not yet been revealed.
So far, A&E has remained silent about when the show will premiere, but they have been inconsistent with this in the past. Because Season 6 premiered in mid-June of 2014 and season 7 premiered that November, fans are hoping for a June premiere date this year as well.
Though Duck Dynasty was a mega-hit in seasons 3, 4, and 5, they took a significant hit after that due in large part of the media’s portrayal of comments made by Phil Robertson. The family was then shamed by the mainstream media for their Christian beliefs.
Even with the ratings drop, however, the show is still performing very well for a cable series, so it’s in A&E’s best interests to keep them on the air for as long as possible.
This news comes just weeks after the Duck Dynasty musical in Las Vegas was forced to close early due to low ticket sales. It looks like the Robertson family could use some good news right now, and a season 8 go ahead might do the trick!
