Months ago, the nation was stunned when NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams was exposed as a liar, as it was revealed many of the stories he often told from his past were fabricated.
Ever since then, NBC has been trying to figure out what to do with their disgraced anchor. On Thursday, it was revealed that Williams would not be returning to his anchor seat at the Nightly News. However, NBC will not be parting ways with him either…
According to New York Daily News, Williams will serve as the new face of MSNBC in what will be an attempt to revamp the struggling network. The focus of the new MSNBC will move away from left leaning politics back towards unbiased breaking news.
This move is NBC News Chairman Andrew Lack’s attempt to kill two birds with one stone. He’s hoping that this will fix both the humiliating Williams scandal and MSNBC’s plummeting ratings.
When Lack joined NBC in April, MSNBC star Rachel Maddow’s ratings were down 24%. Lawrence O’Donnell, another MSNBC personality, had also suffered a 26% drop in ratings. Many have questioned whether MSNBC could even survive their major drop in numbers.
As for Williams, he is set to break his silence in an interview with Matt Lauer, which will air on The Today Show on Friday.
What do you think about this news? Will Williams be able to save MSNBC, or is that a hopeless cause? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
