Obama and his minions are on a mission to destroy the second amendment by banning guns, and they moved one step closer to this goal this week by announcing some ridiculous new gun regulations.
The Justice Department has announced that they will be moving forward this year with more than a dozen gun regulations. According to The Hill, these regulations from restrictions on high-powered pistols to a series of gun storage requirements. The Obama administration has claimed that most of the regulations are part of an effort to keep guns away from the mentally unstable and people who have been convicted of domestic abuse.
As usual, Obama and his goons are using the Sandy Hook massacre as an excuse for the changes, saying they just want to keep guns away from dangerous people.
“If America worked harder to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people, there would be fewer atrocities like the one that occurred in Newtown,” Obama said when he issued 23 gun-related executive actions just after the shooting.
“We can respect the Second Amendment while keeping an irresponsible, law-breaking few from inflicting harm on a massive scale,” he added.
Now, the Justice Department is planning to issue new regulations that would expand the criteria for people who do not qualify to buy guns. Gun lovers, however, see this as an attempt to root out an entire group of gun owners that pose no danger to society.
“It’s clear President Obama is beginning his final assault on our Second Amendment rights by forcing his anti-gun agenda on honest law-abiding citizens through executive force,” said Luke O’Dell, vice president of political affairs at the National Association for Gun Rights.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is planning to impose a rule by November that would ban those who have been convicted of domestic abuse from buying guns. Pro-gun activists see this as ridiculous.
“That could be a person who spanked his kid, or yelled at his wife, or slapped her husband,” warned Michael Hammond, legislative counsel for the Gun Owners of America.
The ATF is also trying to ban the “mentally unstable” from buying guns, which gun-lovers see as the worst new regulation of all.
“The Obama administration is trying very hard to disqualify people from owning a gun on the basis that they are seeing a psychologist,” Hammond argued.
Gun rights activists have proposed a different solution to the problems the Obama administration has pointed out. They say that people should be banned from buying guns on an individual basis, rather than imposing sweeping bans on large groups.
“A person who experienced a temporary reaction to a traumatic event or who has trouble handling household finances may well be treated the same as a violent psychopath,” the NRA wrote. “Not only is this unjust and stigmatizing, it creates disincentives for those who need mental health treatment to seek it, increasing whatever risks are associated with untreated mental illness.”
