Yesterday, we reported on the death of Mansur Ball-Bey, the 18 year-old who was shot and killed by police in St. Louis after he pointed a gun at them as he fled a crackhouse.
The shooting reignited protests in St. Louis, and now the autopsy of Ball-Bey has finally been released. Unfortunately, these results will likely do nothing to calm the unrest in the Missouri city.
According to Daily Mail, the autopsy revealed that Ball-Bey died from a single bullet wound in his back. Though his family and friends say he was shot as he fled from the police unarmed, but Police Chief Sam Dotson said that this doesn’t prove that at all.
“Just because he was shot in the back doesn’t mean he was running away,” said Police Chief Sam Dotson, adding that he still believes his two officers’ story that Ball-Bey had pointed a gun at them.
Ball-Bey’s family, however, claims that witnesses say the teenager was unarmed. His family spoke out this week to urge people to protest peacefully. However, they didn’t say anything about stopping the current riots that are getting out of hand.
“If we don’t protest, then nothing will change,” the family said. “We don’t want a repeat of Ferguson but we want them to understand and feel our pain. Man Man had a bright future ahead of him.”
Race-baiters will undoubtedly use these autopsy results to further their agenda, but we still stand with the St. Louis police!
