Police have closed a movie theater in Nashville, Tennessee after a gunman barged into a screening of Mad Max this afternoon.
According to Daily Mail, a SWAT team shut down the theater at 1:13 pm after a man walked inside armed with a gun and a hatchet. A few minutes later, the suspect was shot dead by police towards the back of the theater.
No other fatalities have been reported from this incident, but police say one other person was wounded from the hatchet.
Police reportedly became suspicious of the man after they saw him walk into the movie theater with two backpacks. Authorities were on high alert, as this comes just two weeks after a man opened fire in a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theater, killing two women and injuring nine other people.
Witnesses near the Tennessee theater reportedly saw a woman covered in blood walking out after police killed the shooter. There were about 25 people watching the movie when the shooter walked in, and most of them were reportedly children.
“We’re waiting on instructions from police, we have not been contacted yet,” said Jeremy Cardoza, who works in the mall where the theater is located. “We had a parent come in and they kind of just told us that there were a bunch of cops posted outside.”
