Blake Shelton is one country singer that the mainstream media should NOT be messing with…
According to Fox News, Shelton filed a $1 million lawsuit against In Touch Weekly yesterday after the tabloid claimed that his heavy drinking led to his divorce from fellow singer Miranda Lambert and that he was heading to rehab.
The lawsuit is specifically against In Touch publisher Bauer Publishing Co., and it states that the publication has repeatedly published false stories about Shelton and his breakup.
“Blake Shelton has had enough,” the lawsuit begins before denying claims made in the article and describing the Grammy-nominated singer’s busy schedule. “Mr. Shelton is not in rehab and has no plans to go to rehab.”
The lawsuit went on to slam In Touch Weekly for running a cover story stating that Shelton had “hit rock bottom.” It points out that Shelton is extremely busy as a judge on NBC’s The Voice, and that he is also working on an upcoming greatest hits album.
“To be clear: Mr. Shelton has not hit rock bottom,” the lawsuit continues.
In the past, In Touch Weekly had run stories claiming that Shelton was drinking heavily and that he had cheated on Lambert, which led to their divorce. In addition to monetary damages, Shelton is seeking a retraction of the story and an injunction that would prevent In Touch from running these allegations again.
We wish Blake the best of luck in this lawsuit, and applaud him for taking on the mainstream media!
