Just before the CMAs on Wednesday night, it was confirmed that newly-divorced Blake Shelton is dating his fellow The Voice judge Gwen Stefani.

This obviously came as a major blow to Shelton’s ex-wife Miranda Lambert, who struggled emotionally to make it through her powerful song “Bathroom Sink” during the awards show.

Less than a week after their relationship was confirmed, however, Stefani is now trying to backtrack by refuting claims that she is dating Shelton. During an appearance on the Frankie and Geena Morning Show this week, Stefani was asked if there would be any songs on her upcoming album about her new relationship. Her response is shocking…

“Wow, that’s really personal. Here’s what I’ll say about that, I never said nothing about being in a new relationship,” she said, according to IJ Review. “I don’t know who said that but somebody did.”

Stefani went on to say that even someone very close to her told her about her new relationship that supposedly isn’t happening.

“And then my kid came in last night to tell me about it,” she lamented. “So that’s how crazy my life has been. People can just say whatever they want and then they can just believe it.”

The singer concluded by calling the rumors “hilarious” and added that the only personal story reflected in her new album will be her “unexpected” divorce from Gavin Rossdale.

While some could see this as Blake Shelton being dumped, it’s more likely that Stefani just sees a big difference between “dating” and being in a “relationship.” Even so, it’s a little rude to both Shelton and Lambert, as well as her fan’s intelligence, to be denying the relationship after it’s been confirmed…
