Having guests stay at your home can be very stressful around the holidays (or any time for that matter)! You want them to feel at home but you can’t break the bank buying new sheets, flowers or fancy soap to spruce up the guest room. Fortunately, Rachel Hollis provides some excellent, affordable tips to make your next hosting event a stay they’ll never forget.
Tip 1 -Wrap it up
If your guests are staying on the couch, tie the sheets and pillows together with a big ribbon to create a nice package. Include a little tag with a welcome note to add to the presentation.
Tip 2 – Clean sweep
Go around the guest room and make sure it’s prepped for guests. Make sure the room is dusted, the bedding and towels are clean, and refill things that are low like toilet paper or soap. Replace anything they may need during their stay.
Tip 3 – Read my mind
Pull a couple of your favorite books or something from your personal library that reminds you of them. Personalize a note telling them why you chose that particular work for them!
Tip 4 – Hotel stay
Leave a postcard for them to send – something from your area or specific to their stay with you! Or you can try a short list of fun things to do around town to check out on their own or with you!
Tip 5 – Midnight snack
Leave a tray with a little midnight snack so they don’t have to worry about venturing downstairs and waking anyone! A bottled water and a light snack like an apple or some trail mix should do the trick!
