The Kardashian and Robertson families appear to have only one thing in common: their both on hugely popular reality television shows that garner millions of fans.
Though the Kardashian family doesn’t think much of the Robertsons’ strong Christian morals, the Duck Dynasty family took the high road when they were asked about their reality show competitors.
“We try to pull the positive things out of a family,” Willie Robertson told ETonline as he sat down with wife Korie Robertson to discuss her new parenting book, Strong & Kind. “Korie’s always said that the Kardashians, they always stick together, and that’s like the Robertsons. They stick together with each other no matter what.”
The Robertsons admitted that they don’t ban their children from watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians, because they’d rather talk to their kids about programming like that than make it taboo.
“We’re not isolationists by any means,” Willie continued. “I went to a public school. I was exposed to a lot of things and you get strong and you learn how to function in the world. They’re gonna be dumped into the world at 18 and have to deal with it in on their own, so we explain things and the key there is how we live our lives… and explain that it may not be best for us, but we’re not gonna judge other people.”
“I don’t read what I read in the headlines and assume everything’s true,” he added with a laugh. “Believe me, I hope everybody doesn’t do that.”
As the star of a popular reality show himself, Willie admitted that he has a lot of respect for the empire the Kardashians have created.
“I know how hard it is to make a TV show,” Willie noted. “We can appreciate how much time goes in from them running their businesses, we do the same thing, so it’s a lot of hard work.
“To be on TV that long, you’ve got to have talent and you’ve got to be entertaining,” he concluded. “It’s a little bit of a different brand than ours [but] they make it work. They’ve been successful.”
This is yet another reason why we love the Robertson family: they always keep it classy!
