Though her husband has been the GOP frontrunner in the presidential race for months now, Melania Trump has stayed out of the limelight: until now.
In a recent interview with Barbara Walters, Melania was asked if her past modeling career, that included topless photoshoots, would affect her husband’s campaign. She didn’t hesitate to respond.
“I think people will always judge, and maybe they will say, ‘Oh, the past that you have, the way you were modeling,’ [but] that’s part of the job that I was doing,” Melania said, according to IJ Review. “I was a very successful model and I did some photo shoots. Yes, they were a little risky, [but] nothing more than you see each year in Sports Illustrated.”
Melania also opened up about why she’s been absent from the campaign trail.
“It’s my choice not to be there,” she said. “I support my husband 100%. But we have a 9-year-old son together, Barron, and I’m raising him. And this is the age he needs a parent at home.”
Despite this, Melania believes Trump will be a “strong” and “tough” leader who also “has a big heart and a very warm heart.” As for Donald, he is fully confident that his wife will be a great first lady.
“She would be so beautiful and elegant and good from the heart,” he said. “She will be a fabulous first lady.”
