In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Miranda Lambert opens up about her split from Blake Shelton. The divorce shocked country fans five months ago when it was announced. In the interview, it appears Miranda clearly is still adjusting to her new life.
“Marriage is a tough business, and we gave it our best college try,” she said. She still thinks highly of her former husband, even referring to him as amazing.
“I had a great relationship with an amazing man,” the 32-year-old singer said, “so I know what good is. I have a great launching pad for the future. I will never take that for granted.”
While Blake has already begun a new relationship with his fellow Voice coach, Gwen Stefani, Miranda is not ready to venture into the dating world. Instead, she is focusing on her music career and her friendships while living her life to the fullest.
“Some of that might mean nights on my porch crying, drinking whiskey, and going, ‘Man, this sucks right now,’” Lambert told the magazine, adding that she will still be going full steam ahead with her music career.
“I feel the sexiest when I’m in my element, which is playing music,” she said. “It doesn’t really matter what I’m wearing necessarily or where I’m at, just on stage with my band playing music is sort of where I feel like I belong and that makes me feel sexy.”
Miranda was recently named Female Vocalist of the Year for the sixth year in a row at the Country Music Awards. She isn’t letting this divorce affect her career.
