Blake Shelton dropped a bombshell on Tuesday when he revealed that he will not be returning as host of the Academy of Country Music Awards.
According to Fox News, Shelton hosted the awards show with Luke Bryan last year, and they were supposed to do it together once again this year. However, today it was revealed that Shelton will be replaced by Dierks Bentley. Bryan will be returning to host the show for the fourth time.
While it is not known why Shelton left, Bryan suggested that Shelton’s departure from the program was sudden.
“When we found ourselves searching for a new co-host I didn’t have to look much further than my own circle of friends so Dierks was a natural choice,” Bryan said in a statement. “We have a lot of fun together and I know the fans will be in for something special.”
Perhaps the ACM Awards did not want to take sides in the Blake Shelton/Miranda Lambert divorce, which has taken a nasty turn since Shelton began dating Gwen Stefani.
