Country music fans everywhere are praying for singer Craig Strickland, who is missing and feared dead after disappearing during a hunting trip on Saturday.
According to Daily Mail, the 29 year-old frontman for popular country band Backroad Anthem embarked on a duck hunting trip with 22 year-old Chase Morland on Saturday afternoon in Kay County. The two men decided to go on the trip despite the multiple tornado warnings in the area.
“In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma,” Morland tweeted late on Saturday.
When 24 hours went by without any word from the two men, their families became worried. A search party was launched, and at around midnight on Monday, the boat the pair had left in was found capsized on Kaw Lake.
Morland’s body was found at 11:10 pm on Monday evening. An avid hunter, Morland worked at Gellco Outdoors.
“Everyone please say special prayers for the family of Chase Morland. They were very close friends and it is such a heartbreaking loss,” the band posted on Monday.
Strickland’s father Randy took to Facebook to reveal that though his son has not been found, their dog Sam, who was also on the trip, has been recovered alive.
Randy later announced that the search had been called off for the night:
“The search has been called off for the night, bringing boat with sonar in morning. A friend gave me these words! We are trying to think of a scenario where he is still alive. Hoping against the odds. We can’t even stand to think about it. We are devastated. Only God & time can put us back together
We are all believing in a miracle!”
Strickland’s wife, former Miss Arkansas Helen Wisner, is also calling for fans to pray.
“Craig is still missing,” she wrote on Twitter. “The search has been called for the night. It will resume again in the morning with a sonar boat. Still need prayers.”
Please pray for Craig Strickland. We sincerely hope he is found alive!
