Diane Savage was enraged when she received a copy of a spelling assignment for a Farmville Central High School English Class. Students in this North Carolina classroom had to endure not only a lesson on Islam, but what appears to be outright indoctrination.
Diane reads the spelling and vocabulary list. The sentences that go along with the spelling assignment are a bit alarming. She points out that there is supposed to be a separation of church and state in public schools. While it is one thing to learn about religions that impact the world, Diane points out that this assignment appears to attempt to plant a seed in these students which isn’t done for other religions.
“They are indoctrinating our children…again. When was the last time you saw your son or daughter, grandson or granddaughter come home from public school with a lesson—a curriculum lesson built around God? Around Jesus Christ? Around Buddha? When’s the last time? Thought this wasn’t allowed.”
How would you react if your child came home with this assignment? Please share your thoughts.
