The entire country is in mourning today after the death of singer David Bowie, who past away last night after an 18 month long battle with cancer. He was 69 years-old.
Days before his death, Bowie released his final music video for his new song Lazarus, and millions of fans are now taking solace in the poignant video and lyrics.
“Look up here, I’m in heaven,” Bowie says in the video, according to Daily Mail.
Bowie’s longtime producer Tony Visconti told reporters that the singer knew his cancer was incurable for over a year, and he described his latest album as a “parting gift” to his fans.
“His death was no different from his life – a work of Art,” Visconti said. “He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn’t, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.”
God bless you, David Bowie, you will be missed!
