Ever since her humiliating loss to Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire, Hillary Clinton has desperately been trying to appeal to minority voters in order to get her lead back. Unfortunately for her, this strategy came back to bite her on Wednesday night when she was confronted by a Black Lives Matter protester at a $500 a plate private fundraiser in South Carolina.
According to Western Journalism, the fundraiser was at a private home in Charleston and included 100 guests, including Black Lives Matters activist Ashley Williams and her associate. When Hillary began her speech about civil rights, Ashley immediately held up a banner that described Hillary’s “inconsistencies” with this issue.
Ashley then demanded an apology from the clearly stunned Hillary for supporting the criminal justice reforms implemented by former President Bill Clinton. The protester added that these reforms were responsible for an increase in the arrests of African-Americans.
The Secret Service quickly stepped in and removed Ashley and her friend, but they had already made their point.
“I wanted to bring her to confront her own words,” Ashley told Huffington Post. “We did this because we wanted to make sure that black people are paying attention to her record, and we want to know what Hillary we are getting.”
Clearly, Hillary isn’t nearly as popular with black voters as she would like to believe…
