A Florida teen is in jail after pretending to be a doctor and giving patients exams. Malachi Love-Robinson, who preferred to be called Dr. Love, opened the New Birth New Life Holistic and Alternative Medical Center and Urgent Care in West Palm Beach. The 18 year old claimed to have a Ph.D., an “HHP-C” and an “AMP-C.”

The Florida Department of Health sent Love-Robinson a cease-and-desist letter in October after receiving a tip. When they again heard of “Dr. Love” continuing his practice, they reopened the case. The teen was arrested after giving an undercover police officer an exam and medical advice.

West Palm Beach police detained him last year when the then 17 year old was found wandering St. Mary’s Medical Center in a doctor’s coat and interacting with patients. Love-Robinson had been peeking in on gynecological exams. A wardrobe of lab coats were found in his car at that time. He was questioned, but ultimately not charged.

Dr. Sebastian Kent, an OB/GYN whose office is on the St. Mary’s Medical Center grounds, said he was amazed to hear that the same teen who had introduced himself as a doctor a year ago had been accused of impersonating a doctor a second time.

The teen’s grandfather William Robinson says Malachi never claimed to be a medical doctor, but rather a holistic doctor. Robinson says his grandson earned degrees online and never saw patients. The grandfather believes that Malachi opened the clinic to attract other doctors.

I can’t believe Bill Clinton didn’t come up with this idea.

The teen is charged with practicing medicine without a license. It is unknown how many patients he saw. Given that he looks like a teenager, it is amazing he was able to get away with this even for a day.

How do you think he was able to get away with this and actually start a clinic? What should his punishment be?
