ISIS has confirmed that its number two commander Omar al-Shishani also known as “Omar the Chechen” was killed in an airstrike near Qarayyah, Iraq just south of Mosul.

U.S. officials believed they had killed al-Shishani in Syria in March. However, ISIS claimed he was only injured and survived the attack.

Al-Shishani had a $5 million reward on his head. He was one of ISIS’s best military commanders who previously served in an elite Georgian military unit.

This is great news and a huge blow to ISIS. We need to continue keep up the pressure and eliminate this threat once and for all.
