The #NeverTrump crowd looks to finally have found their man in former CIA counterterrorism agent and the chief policy director of the House Republican conference Evan McMullin.
McMullin resigned his spot as the chief policy director of the House Republican Conference this morning. He told ABC News:
In a year where Americans have lost faith in the candidates of both major parties, it’s time for a generation of new leadership to step up. It’s never too late to do the right thing, and America deserves much better than either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton can offer us. I humbly offer myself as a leader who can give millions of disaffected Americans a conservative choice for President.
McMullin is backed by #NeverTrumpers and a 501(c)(4) called Better for America. Better for America is funded by John Kingston a Boston-based donor who did major fundraising for Mitt Romney’s failure of a campaign.
To no one’s surprise, McMullin also has direct ties to Goldman Sachs, the major financial bank that was bailed out by American taxpayers and continues to try and fleece the American public every chance it gets. McMullin worked for Goldman Sachs from 2011 to 2013.
McMullin looks to be the ultimate insider. Not only did he work Goldman Sachs. He spent the first 11 years of his career working for the CIA and then in 2013 went to Capitol Hill to be a senior adviser on national security for the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and finally the chief policy director of the House Republican Conference. He should add failed Presidential candidate to that list.
Better for America and the Capitol Hill insiders hope McMullin will “act as a disruptor [and] peel off some red states in a race where some Republicans are still resistant to Donald Trump.” Good luck with that given Trump pulled in the most Republican primary voters ever competing in a field of 17.
This looks to be just a PR stunt or it’s one of the most elaborate schemes by consultants to siphon money from their donors. Either way this has to be the most laughable candidacy we have seen in years.
What do you think about McMullin? Will he get your vote?
