U2’s Bono recently spoke harshly about Donald Trump. The Irish singer isn’t a fan. He says Trump “could destroy” America.

From The Hill:

“Look, America is like the best idea the world ever came up with,” he said in a “CBS This Morning” interview aired Tuesday.

“But Donald Trump is potentially the worst idea that ever happened to America,” the U2 singer added.

“Potentially — it could destroy it.

“I think he’s hijacked the party and he’s trying to hijack the idea of America. I think it’s bigger than all of us. This is really dangerous.”

“America’s not just a country,” he said, after sighing in exasperation and burying his head in his arms upon first hearing Trump’s name.

“Ireland is a nice country, Great Britain’s a great country, all the rest, but it’s not an idea. America is an idea. That idea is banded up in justice and equality for all.”

That being said, he understands the motivation of Trump supporters. He said they have a valid point.

“I would not diminish Trump’s supporters or underestimate their angst.

“I feel that, in a way, they have correctly assessed that the center parties haven’t yet become clear.

“I’m Irish, I don’t have a vote. I can’t be telling people how to vote and don’t want to. But I have a voice, and I can say that who sits in that office really affects everyone in this world.”

While Bono is a popular activist and singer, it doesn’t appear that he will have any sway over the election. Americans are motivated to try something different. Politicians are taking our country down the wrong path. Trump supporters believe his background in business, rather than politics, is what we need right now.

Please share this if you think Bono should stick to singing!
