This past Sunday in Drummonds, Tennessee, Edgar Dallas McLellan bulldozed his neighbor John Higdon’s home with a backhoe.

While Edgar may have caused the most damage in the end, the feud between the two neighbors started when police received reports from John Higdon of around five people shining lights into his residence earlier in the week.

Reports of gun fire was then reported by neighbors on Friday. John Higdon told officers that he saw multiple people wearing camouflage suits prowling around in the woods. In order to scare them off he began firing off shots.

The officers found no evidence of anyone in the woods.

Later that day, more shots were reported and Higdon was arrested for Reckless Endangerment. While Higdon was in jail, the Sheriff’s Office received a call that a piece of heavy construction equipment was seen bulldozing Higdon’s home.

Once deputies arrived they found Higdon’s home completely destroyed and a backhoe at another neighbor’s house.

Edgar Dallas McLellan was arrested for aggravated criminal trespassing and felony vandalism.

Watch the report:

Sammy Higdon, John Higdon’s brother denied there was a feud between his brother and McLellan. “Don’t know why. Never had beef with him. No explanation.”

He was completely baffled by McLellan’s behavior, “This man over here decides to come over here at 2 o’clock in the morning with a [bull]dozer, a tractor, and starts pushing the house down.” His brother added, “He run the tractor through both bedrooms where the bed sits. I still don’t know what to believe.”

Both Higdon and McLellan are out on bond and awaiting a court date in Tipton County General Sessions Court.

Sheriff J.T. “Pancho” Chumley expects additional charges to be filed upon the completion of his detectives’ investigation.

This may be one of the most absurd stories I have ever read. What could drive a man to such rage that they would go out and get a backhoe to completely level his neighbors house. It’s literal insanity!
