As middle class Americans are struggling to make ends meet and worry about national security, debate moderator Lester Holt spent a significant time during the first debate of the general election asking about birtherism of all things.
The question was directed towards Donald Trump, seemingly in a manner to taint him as a racist. But, it didn’t seem to stick because this is so 8 years ago, when Hillary Clinton’s campaign started peddling the claim that Barack Obama was born in Kenya.

Americans don’t care about birtherism in 2016. Holt spent more time asking about this nonsense topic than he did asking about Hillary Clinton or her staff taking a hammer to blackberries to destroy them and emails she sent. We want to hear about issues that affect us day in and day out.
I guess talking about Obamas birth certificate is far more important than illegal immigration or the federal debt. #debatenight

Are we seriously talking more about birtherism than 2A?! #debatenight

Come on, Lester! Do your job. You are supposed to be unbiased, but it seems you are propping up Hillary at the first debate.
