Republican Rob Portman easily dispatched his opponent former Governor Ted Strickland in the Ohio Senate race that Democrats thought they could flip.

With 21% of the vote in, Portman raked in 55% of the vote compared to Strickland’s 41%.

Portman was first elected to the Senate in 2010.

He is a former U.S. trade representative and budget director.

Watch Strickland’s concession speech:

Portman did not campaign with Donald Trump. In fact he dropped his endorsement of Donald Trump after the Billy Bush video.

Portman has 59% Lifetime score from FreedomWorks.

He is a strong proponent of a balanced budget amendment and has advocated for legislation to label China as a currency manipulator.
