The U.S. Senate, led by Mike Lee of Utah, wants an immediate investigation into Soros-backed, leftist political groups in a number of Eastern European countries, including Macedonia and Albania.

Lee and his colleagues want the Rex Tillerson-led State Department to investigate whether U.S. taxpayer dollars are being funneled through the State Department and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to aid these Soros groups and his radical anti-American agenda.

Lee sent a letter to the State Department accusing it and the USAID of supporting “left-of-center political groups and impress[ing] left-leaning policies on sovereign nations, regardless of their self-determination.” The letter goes on to accuse the George Soros-backed Open Society Foundations of being one of those groups.

In fact, the letter says the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia, an off-shoot of Soros’s Open Society Foundations, was a “recipient of multiple grant awards and serve[s] as a USAID contractor implementing projects in the small nation of 2.1 million … to push a progressive agenda and invigorate the political left. Our foreign aid should only be used to promote a political agenda if it is in the security or economic interests of our country to do so, and even at that, we must be cautious and respectful in such an endeavor.”

The letter then goes on to point out this is a pattern of behavior. “This problem is not limited to Macedonia, but appears to follow a pattern of alarming activity in this volatile region. Respected leaders from Albania have made similar claims of US diplomats and Soros-backed organizations pushing for certain political outcomes in their country.”

Along with the letter, Mike Lee expressed his worry over United States taxpayer dollars being used to promote radical political agendas, “Over the past few months, elected officials and political leaders of foreign nations have been coming to me with disappointing news and reports of US activity in their respective countries. This includes reports of diplomats playing political favorites, USAID funds supporting extreme and sometimes violent political activists, and the US Government working to marginalize the moderates and conservatives in leadership roles. This sort of political favoritism from our missions around the world is unacceptable and endangers our bilateral relationships.”

Lee’s letter doesn’t even get to the heart of the corruption.

Fox News reported that USAID gave $15 million to Soros’s Foundation Open Society – Macedonia as well as other Soros-backed groups in the region.

The USAID website shows that between 2012 and 2016, USAID gave almost $5 million in taxpayer cash to FOSM for “The Civil Society Project,” which “aims to empower Macedonian citizens to hold government accountable.” USAID’s website links to www.soros.org.mk, and says the project trained hundreds of young Macedonians “in youth activism and the use of new media instruments.”

This is literally code language for training violent, angry communist-leaning individuals who want nothing more than to destroy civilization as we know it. We’ve seen this type of behavior even infect people here in the United States during a number of anti-Trump protests that began in 2015 and have continued to this day. One of the more recent riots occurred at the University of California- Berkeley.

Along with Macedonia and Albania, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban decried Soros’s influence in his own country, “I think it is no secret and everyone knows about the very close relationship between the Democrats and George Soros and his foundations. It is obvious that if Hillary Clinton had won then this pressure on us would be much stronger. With Donald Trump winning we have the hope that this pressure will be decreased on us.”

WikiLeaks unveiled Soros’s connection to Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration in 2011 when Soros sent Hillary a letter asking for the United States to “bring the full weight of the international community to bear on Prime Minister Berisha and opposition leader Edi Rama” in Albania.

Along with Mike Lee, Senators James Inhofe, Thom Tillis, David Perdue, Ted Cruz, and Bill Cassidy signed the letter.
