Since American Sniper came out, Jesse Ventura has been doing his best to ensure that the film flops. Unfortunately for him, his efforts haven’t been working, and the movie is continuing to break box office records and earn praise from critics.
The film is up for six Oscars, including best picture, and is turning into one of the biggest hits of the year. In the two weeks since it’s release, it has already raked in $200 million. This despite the fact that Ventura continues to run around calling the movie a lie to anyone who will listen.
“A hero must be honorable, must have honor. And you can’t have honor if you’re a liar. There is no honor in lying,” Ventura said, according to New York Daily News. He added that the film is “as authentic as Dirty Harry,” referencing another of director Clint Eastwood’s famous films.
Ventura says his problem with the film is that it links Iraq to the 9/11 attacks. The former governor recently won a $1.8 million lawsuit against the estate of Chris Kyle for a passage in the war hero’s book in which he describes punching Ventura in the face.
Man, I’d sure like to punch Ventura right now too…
