The contractual dispute between Dish Network and Fox News that left subscribers going without America’s number one cable news channel made national headlines. It looks as though Dish’s decision to block Fox instead of paying them the fees they were asking for has backfired in a huge way.

Less than one month after Fox was dropped, over 90,000 subscribers have dropped Dish directly because of the network’s decision to block their news channel of choice. Additionally, 350,000 subscribers have called or emailed Dish in anger.

The Conservative Tribune notes that this is more than twice as many viewers as MSNBC collects during prime time. Pretty impressive, Fox. Pretty impressive.

“It is unfortunate that the millions of Fox News viewers on Dish were used as pawns by their provider,” said Fox News Executive Vice President Tim Carry. “Hopefully they will vote with their hard-earned money and seek another one of our other valued distributors immediately,” he commented shortly after Fox was blocked on Dec. 20. It appears that Fox viewers took his advice!

Carry recently revealed that despite the massive exodus of their viewer base, Dish has done little to nothing to ease tensions with Fox. “They have not spoken to us at all. There has not been any outreach on any level,” he said. “Their positioning that they are actively negotiating rings hollow.”

It appears as though Dish is cutting off their nose to spite their face. Share this report if you’re glad that their subscribers are hitting them where it hurts!
