Well, that didn’t take long!

It’s only day one of the Republican takeover of congress, and the White House has already issued two veto threats over GOP legislation. One of these potential laws that Obama is refusing to sign is one that would grant approval for the Keystone Pipeline.

This legislation would give the go-ahead to build the XL portion of the transnational oil pipeline system. Even though this pipeline would do all of us a world of good, Obama is determined not to let it happen.

On Monday, the White House would not specifically say that Obama would veto the legislation, but they made it clear that he did not appreciate congress interfering in the building of a pipeline. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said that this is a situation best left up to the state department.

“That’s how previous pipelines like this have been considered, and we believe this one should be considered in that same way too,” Earnest told the press.

However, today Earnest spoke out again, this time with a clear veto threat. He also whined that it was clear to the White House that Republican politicians have no intentions of working with the president.

The other bill Obama is threatening to veto deals with Healthcare Reform, and it is set to redefine full-time employees as people who work 40 hours a week, rather than the current 30. Obama sees this as a loophole for businesses to get around Obamacare, so he is refusing to sign off on that as well.

Congress should be voting on each of these bills by the end of the week. It remains to be seen whether or not the president will make good on his threats.

Do you think Obama will veto the bills, and continue to act like a childish sore loser? Sound off in the comments below!
