A white-tail deer in Kelowna, Canada was fleeing a pack of coyotes when he became trapped on a patch of ice on a frozen lake. Conservation officers Ed Seitz and Ken Owens were called in, and they immediately took action.

The officers’ first course of action was to get a flat boat ready to transport the deer.

They then tranquilized the deer with a dart.

The sedated deer was then loaded into the boat, successfully freeing him from his icy prison.

The deer was then pulled to safety and released back into the forest. We’re glad this had a happy ending!
