Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister (PM), spoke in Washington, D.C. on Monday at the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee. Netanyahu reportedly said that the Jewish people will not be “passive in the face of threats” to them. “Those days are over,” he added.

Showing a map of Iran’s “tentacles of terror,” the PM added, “This is what Iran is doing now without nuclear weapons. Imagine what Iran will do with nuclear weapons.”

He said that he has a “moral obligation to speak up in the face” of the possibility of Iran obtaining nuclear weapons. He added that Israel would act alone against Iran.

This is a message that is very likely to annoy President Obama. Still, Netanyahu has gone out of his way to be friendly towards Obama.

Turning his attention to Obama, the PM said, “My speech is not intended to show any disrespect to President Obama or the esteemed office that he holds.”

Netanyahu received a standing ovation at the end of his speech.

Amid the PM’s visit, Obama reportedly attempted to have one of Netanyahu’s speeches boycotted by Democrats in Congress.
