For the last week, the nation has been captivated by the footage of Officer Michael Slager murdering a black man named Michael Scott.

Today, the dashcam footage of the incident was released, and Fox News host Geraldo Rivera says that this video exonerates Slager of murder.

Rivera says the footage shows that it “started as a righteous traffic stop” and that Scott, 50, was “acting very hinky and edgy” before he got out of his car and fled on foot.

Rivera continued:

There is reliable eyewitness account that there is then a struggle after the Taser. So, up until that point, the cop with his adrenaline pumping, now he’s been in a physical tussle, and now the perpetrator has reached for the Taser allegedly. Now it gives you the context of his blood boiling. [Officer Slager] has done everything professional and now he’s had this, this civilian has dared to physically have this altercation with the officer. Put that in the officer’s head now. I think it saves him from the murder rap.

When another host expressed shock that Rivera was saying this wasn’t murder, he clarified his comments.

“This is a horrible, horrible shooting, but there was no premeditation,” Rivera clarified. “This is manslaughter. I believe that this is manslaughter.”

Watch the footage for yourself and see what you think. Does this exonerate Slager of murder? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
