Samuel Forrest of Armenia was forced to make a very difficult decision a few months ago when his wife gave birth to a baby with down syndrome.

Afterwards, his wife gave a stunned Forrest a ridiculous ultimatum. She forced him to choose between her and their son Leo, saying that she was too embarrassed to raise someone with down syndrome.

Because Forrest is from New Zealand, he did not know that Armenians often give up babies who have disabilities.

“What happens when a baby like this is born here, they will tell you that you don’t have to keep them. My wife had already decided, so all of this was done behind my back,” Forrest recounted.

In the end, Forrest picked his son over his wife. Less than a week later, his wife had already divorced him and moved on.

“This really came out of the blue for me. I don’t have a lot, I have very little in fact. The goal is to raise enough for a year so I can get a part-time job so Leo doesn’t have to be in daycare and I can help care for him. He’s lost a lot in two weeks. It’d be different if he had his mommy,” he said.

Do you think he made the right choice? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
