Five different Walmart stores across the country have suddenly announced that they will be closing down due to “plumbing issues,” and conspiracy theories have since been running rampant.

Walmarts in Pico Rivera, California, Livingston, Texas, Midland, Texas, Brandon, Florida, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, all made the announcement, causing many to link the closures to Jade Helm, the military exercise which some fear is a rehearsal for martial law.

“A Walmart would make a perfect FEMA detention facility … see ya in the camps!” said one respondent, according to Infowars.

Others say that the Walmarts are being closed down to be decontaminated after receiving radioactive food from the Fukushima area. A more likely theory is that the Walmarts failed to adhere to construction codes and were forced to close down so they could remove chemicals like asbestos.

Authorities in Pico Rivera, California are suspicious that they have only just now found out about these mysterious “plumbing issues.”

“If I were a property owner I’d want to make sure my store was closed as little as possible,” said James Enriquez, the city’s public works director. “I would want a permit to be in place the day I was going to close — but we haven’t received anything.”

Authorities in the area are livid that they were laid off with just five hours notice.

Customers are also suspicious about the plumbing excuse.

“I’m an electrician and I used to work for a company that did repairs at Walmarts,” wrote another respondent to the story. “They make the contractors jump through hoops so they do not have to shut down or cause any inconvenience.”

“If it really was a plumbing issue, they would build completely new restrooms first then repair any issue afterwards,” he added. “Also, knowing Walmart’s timelines, there is no way in hell any contractors would have 6 months to complete any repair project.”
