Summertime is nearly here, and with it comes barbecues. One of the most beloved American foods is hot dogs, but once you see how they are made, you’ll never want to eat one again.

This clip comes from The Science Channel’s hit TV show How It’s Made, and I would regret not eating before you watch it. Hot dogs are often made from a mix of pork, beef, and chicken, and the cuts from these meats are called trimmings. These trimmings are leftover from cuts of steaks and pork chops.

After this, they are ground up the way hamburger meats are before going through a grotesque and lengthy process to become a hot dog. Different flavors are also added to the hot dog depending on the region of the country they are in.
