Video footage captured Denver-based police officer James Medina doing something horrific to a female suspect.

The suspect, Seryina Trujillo, was arrested for assaulting an officer — she had allegedly kicked an officer and then spat in the face of another officer while her boyfriend was being arrested. Trujillo was subsequently brought to the holding cell seen in the video.

The footage shows Medina and Trujillo talking, but things quickly get violent. The officer, trying to get control of the suspect, forces her knee to her throat. The act caused Trujillo to pass out.

The officer reportedly sought no medical care for the suspect. He didn’t even report the incident to the proper authorities.

Since the surfacing of this footage, Medina has been fired from his position. His attorney claims that Trujillo was scratching and biting the officer, which is what caused him to use force against her.

Do you think Medina should have been fired? Should charges be pressed against him? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section!
