Having a disabled child can be very hard. One of the biggest challenges of being the parent of a child with special needs is dealing with the ignorant people who complain and snicker about your child.

Riley is an 8 year-old boy who has suffered from severe epilepsy since he was a baby. This means that he often has uncontrollable seizures at a moment’s notice, meaning normal things in life like a trip to the grocery store or movie theater can become very challenging fast.

Riley and his family were recently having lunch at the Stag and Doe Restaurant in North Carolina when he had a seizure, causing a disruption in the restaurant. When a waitress approached the family, they feared the worst; but then she handed them a note.

“God only gives special children to special people,” the note read. The waitress handed it to the family with tears in her eyes, and she then paid their full bill.

Riley’s mother took to Facebook to share this random act of kindness, and the post quickly went viral.

“Little did he know what struggles we had been facing lately..” she wrote. “This was surely needed at that moment.”

This shows that there are still some good people left in this cynical world!
