Teenagers these days are literally addicted to their cellphones, and this story shows just how far one girl will go to save her phone when it’s in trouble.

16 year-old Ella Sankey was walking her dog when she dropped her iPhone down a drain. Devastated, the teen decided she needed to rescue it, but this turned out to be a very bad idea.

Sankey climbed into the drain, but she quickly realized she was stuck. An amused crowd, which included her own mother, gathered around her as she desperately tried to get out of the drain.

Finally, fireman were called, and they were able to rescue the girl within ten minutes.

Sankey later recounted her story to the press, explaining that she had only gotten the precious phone about two weeks before the incident:

“I was talking to somebody and I went to put my phone in my pocket and it fell down the drain. I thought to myself ‘I’m not leaving this’ and I jumped down to get it.

I wasn’t really even stuck, I just need somebody to help lift me out but my mum got all panicky. When they pulled me out I ran straight home and jumped in the bath. I think it was just water but I wasn’t taking any chances.

I was just laughing the whole time, I have seen the funny side of it. You just have to laugh along with it.

‘There have been a few nasty comments about me being fat which isn’t nice but I’m trying not to take it to heart.”
