Back in 1994, cave explorers Eliette Brunel-Deschamps, Christian Hillaire, and Jean-Marie Chauvet made a groundbreaking discovery on a mountain in southern France.

While hiking on a mountain, the explorers felt a draft of air shooting up from the ground. After doing some digging, they found a tiny shaft that led deep underground. When they finally squeezed into it, they were stunned by what they found.

At first, it seemed like the cave didn’t contain anything. However, when they went deeper, they found that the cave was actually a time capsule of sorts from around 32,000 year ago.

There, they discovered the oldest paintings in the history of the world.

At first, they thought the paintings were fake. But then scientists found that they dated back to as long as 32,000 years ago. Since then, artists have been adding to them for thousands of years.

What do you think about these paintings? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
