President Barack Obama wants nothing more than to control every single thing that we do. He came closer to this goal with a terrifying new order to the food industry that represents his attempt to control what we eat.

According to Conservative Tribune, the Obama administration has ordered the food industry to eliminate trans fats within three years.

Trans fats are typically used in processed foods to enhance flavor or prolong shelf life, but it is also responsible for raising levels of “bad” cholesterol while lowering levels of “good” cholesterol. This in turn can lead to heart disease.

The dangers of trans fats have been known for years, and since 2003, warning about their effects have led to a 78% decrease in their consumption as Americans learned to avoid foods with the fats. Many companies also responded by removing trans fats from their products and using healthier oils instead.

Obama, however, isn’t satisfied with this. Trans fats are still used in products like microwave popcorn and piecrusts, so the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has now given food companies three years to eliminate them altogether.

Liberals have applauded the decision, saying it could save tens of thousands of lives.

“(This) is probably the single most important thing the FDA has ever done for the healthfulness of the food supply,” said Michael Jacobson, head of The Center for Science in the Public Interest.

While we don’t dispute the health risks of trans fats, we are sick of Obama and his minions interfering with the daily lives of Americans and restricting our freedom to make our own choices. We are all aware of the dangers of trans fats, and if we don’t want to eat them, we won’t! Obama should be letting us make that decision on our own, rather than trying to force-feed us the food that he wants us to eat.

This represents a very slippery slope. What will Obama ban next, sugar?
